Painkiller Drink Recipe
How a Caribbean Tiki Drink Sparked a Passion
I have a certain affection for this drink. This was the drink we discovered on our honeymoon a million years ago in the British Virgin Islands on the island of Tortola, the fabled birthplace of this drink.
Mind you we were far from sophisticated drinkers. My husband barely liked the taste of alcohol while we were dating. Midori Sours ..? Uh, Yeah. I didn’t know much about drinks either other than the sweet tasting desert inspired shots my friends would order for me. Remember the Chocolate Covered Cherry Shot? No..? Maybe it’s just me.
On our most amazing honeymoon to the BVIs we discovered so many new flavors. Scotch Bonnet Peppers where in just about everything. And conch fritters became one of our favorite… Oh… I want to go there NOW! And the most popular item on the menu? A Painkiller!
When we returned home my husband went from not interested in cocktails to starting his own collection of spirits. Suddenly we had a home bar and our most popular drink when we entertained was the Painkiller! Oh It’s So Good!
And today, well he has become a bit of a craft cocktail aficionado. His hobby is crafting cocktails and my hobby is drinking them!
